TAX ACCOUNTANT AFRICA
Main Purpose of the Job
To provide financial, accounting, and administrative services to ensure efficient timely, and accurate accounts reporting, under his/her control.
The tax accountant will need to provide support to the Tax and Compliance Manager in Africa. Countries include South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Botswana, Mozambique, Mali, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, DRC, Liberia, Ghana and Cameroon.
Scope of the Job
Corporate Income taxation (including provisional taxation), VAT, Withholding taxation (WHT) and any other International tax
Responsible for all related tax returns for all entities. This will include calculating, preparing, submitting, and ensuring payment is made on time, as per each region's tax deadlines.
Ensuring the necessary tax schedules are maintained on a regular basis and ready for submission with the corporate tax returns.
Payroll-related tax and compliance
Monitor and ensure all Payroll related tax and related compliance payments, for all entities, are submitted and paid duly.
Reconcile all tax-related balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Preparing deferred taxation calculations.
Ensure Tax pack information is completed on a monthly basis.
Ensuring that all correct tax deductions are made when repaying intercompany accounts. And that these deductions are correctly filed and paid over to the Revenue authorities.
Preparing monthly reports of the status of monthly tax filing and risks identified.
Responsible to ensure that all additional assessments received from the region's Revenue authority is addressed on time. Ensuring the necessary application of notice of objections and/or notices of appeal, as required
Manage and drive all tax audit requests received from the region's Revenue authority.
Providing general tax advice and consultation as required (local and international)
Assist with preparing transfer pricing documentation, was required
Ensure all statutory compliance requirements, for all entities are met, as required in each region.
Assist with ad-hoc queries raised by Group Tax
Qualifications
Minimum B.comm degree in Tax
At least 2 years’ commercial experience in a similar role
Experience with various African countries preferred;
Knowledge of general bookkeeping and accounting procedures;
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements;
Knowledge of SAP Business one preferred ;
Excellent English communication, reporting writing, and presentation skills. Excellent Excel skills.
